Five Strange World Records with Pizza

We live in a mad, mad world! And it’s also a terribly competitive one, including for areas that we wouldn’t even think about…

Now, really, would you have guessed that there are 43 pizza related records in The Guinness Book of World Records? And some of them could not be understood by anyone other than a true fan of pizza or someone with a mindset fully centered on performance, so we think it’s worth looking at least at some of them. For now let’s talk about five:

  • The most pizzas made in 24 hours (team): 7,539, record set by a Domino’s Pizza restaurant in Australia, between the 16th and the 17th of June2012;

  • The most pizzas made in 24 hours (team): 5.070, a record set by Ristorante Sportivi Paradiso in Switzerland and the Instituto Nazionale della Pizza (Italy), on the 27th of June 2015;

  • But how about pizzas made by one man in only one hour? Brian Edler, also a part of the big global family from Domino’s set a record of 206 pieces on the 9th of December 2010, in Ohio (SUA); in fact, he managed to make 215, nut the judges saw only 206 as being thoroughly made with tomato sauce and cheese;

  • The longest pizza? Oh well, 1.5 tons of mozzarella and 2 tons of tomato sauce turned into a 5 ton-pie (after 18 hours of efforts from more than 60 chefs), with a length 1,595.45 m; the record was set in Milano, on the 20th of June 2015;

  • But you can’t find a pizza like that every day. so what is the largest pizza you could buy on an ordinary day? If you can get to California and order with one day in advance, you’re free to buy from Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria a square pie, with a 1.37m length; it can also be delivered (in a certain range), it is said to feed somewhere between 50 and 100 people and it only costs 199,99$ + VAT.

It must be clear by now that you really can reach the top in ANY field 🙂
